It seemed his small gambit had paid off, adding just a little bit of spice to the Falcon's strike. However, the Shin leader would likely soon wish he had conserved his Chakra instead, as the Monk readied his crescendo and the sky filled with fire Yōsuru could only look up with a defeated sigh. "Come on now..." He knew he didn't have enough strength yet to counterforce such a strike. So, bracing himself for the pain of immolation, he took it on the chin and prayed for his own survival.
Flame engulfed him yet again as he kept his consciousness through force of will through the pain, dreaming of his retirement. Relaxing by a lake, fishing, reading and maybe even taking up a new hobby. All he had to do was survive this ordeal.
When the fire eventually cleared Yōsuru stood, still just barely alive in amongst the embers, he coughs up a lungful of smoke. His skin charred and his clothes tattered. It seemed to be taking everything he had left just to stay standing. "I think we...I think...we...I think...pissed him...we off him we...we did...yes..." Mindless babbling, but at least he seemed convinced it was a clever comment.

Arata saw the flames leaping toward him—crashing down from the sky like the very gods had taken an interest in the fight. He felt his body surge with energy, yearning to escape the flames. But he knew he could not. The monk was weakened. Now was the time to finish him…and also the time that he would be most eager to escape.
With a final burst of strength, the Namikaze spun his staff with all of his might toward the wounded monk. The weapon whipped toward Yasumon's head, just as the fires seemed to slam into them both.
And yet, suddenly, the Namikaze materialized elsewhere--a burst of speed that was as surprising to him as it must have been to any on-lookers. He glanced down at his hands, covered in soot and blood, and felt the chakra coursing through them. His body must have taken over for him, tapping into some deep reserve...
-
At the same time, a streak of white and grey shot through the space above them, and a bolt of lightning leapt toward the monk’s back. A delighted shriek echoed throughout the monastic cloister: a hunter reveling in his craft.
-
Far above the arms of Ifrit, lifted up by the heat they were producing, Kurayami spread her wings once more. She would steal the last of Yasumon’s strength, if there was any left to take—an old spell, passed down to her from her most ancient ancestors. Dark clouds would seem to unfurl before the head monk’s eyes, bursts of lightning arcing from each dark mass. She had never attempted to sway such a strong foe before, but he was still mortal. And she knew better than most how to nudge her prey toward a sense of utter despair.

After that massive attack failed to swing the scales as decisively as Yasumon would've preferred it seemed his flames were starting to peter out, revealing the charred and ashy skin beneath. He looked as if he had just about given all he had. Despite his immense skill he could not stand up against the onslaught of the Uchiha and the Namikaze combined. He felt his vision distort for a moment, as black stormclouds swirled over his head. A warrior of his calibre would likely be able to detect such a Genjutsu, but he was perhaps too weak at this time to distinguish it or perhaps he simply didn't care to dispel it from his mind. He looked up for a mere second that seemed to stretch to infinity, as if he was feeling invisible raindrops pouring down on his face. For a brief moment he shuddered, as if sobbing. The time came to finish him.
Arata swung his staff into the side of the Monk's head, sending the old man staggering backwards in a daze and falling to all fours. In his mind, he saw his reflection in a puddle. The reflection of a sad, and broken old warrior. Whose days of proud service were long behind him. His fingernails dug into the dirt beneath them as he gritted his teeth. The statue of the spectral Ifrit began to disperse, but not because he was done, because its manifested power was flowing into his body, stoking his flames once more into a blistering heat.
Hikari had no time to deviate from his path as Yasumon seemingly disappeared in a flash from where he had been standing. The avian would have to swerve hard to avoid impacting with the ground, and in that sudden panic might not realise the lightning he had attempted to strike with had vanished too. The Fire monk rematerialised in an instant, appearing behind the two remaining Uchiha as a searing ball of flame and lightning surged towards them. He had thrown it haphazardly, as if he no longer cared who he struck. But regardless, the suddenly manifested fire was on a direct course for Hana.
As Kuroda retaliated with his powerful fire Jutsu the monk responded in turn. A flaming humanoid like shape screamed towards Kuroda, blasting through his jutsu with ease and attempting to wrap around him and bind his arms and legs, effectively trapping him like a snake while it tried to sear his body with its hands.
If his last move had been the crescendo, they were witnessing the encore.

To claim that they were not in awe of the strength and persistence of Yasumon would have been a gross maltreatment of the foe before them. Despite everything thrown at them - still the old monk rose once more. Kuroda's eyes widen as his greatest Jutsu was completely overwhelmed this time - whether this was a jutsu, or Yasumon himself, Kuroda did not know. Flames wrap around Kuroda, searing his flesh - though fortunately for him, it had to get through his armor first.
The flames do indeed burn away Kuroda's armor, causing it to partially melt to his skin through his now burning overcoat! Kuroda bellows out in anguish at the constricting blaze, unable to defend himself from the attack. Hana fared little better - the blast of flames sent her way, destroying her meager fire ball, crashes upon her, sending the Uchiha across the courtyard and slamming against the ground with a painful CRUNCH as her left elbow gave out. Hana yelps in pain, but manages to hold back a scream, though just barely.
Kuroda, held up and burning in the grasp of the flaming humanoid shape, bellows in pain as the constriction tightens.
"No! You won't take him too!!" Hana shouts defiantly in the face of this overwhelming power. Favoring her broken arm, Hana forces her limp hand up with the other, forcing hand signs as she runs full tilt towards the battle again. It didn't matter to her that she was so outclassed - it didn't matter how powerful Yasumon was. She refused to lose Yagura and Kuroda in the same day! Hana, eyes glinting with conviction, faces Yasumon. "Yasumon!! The Uchiha Flames will not be extinguished! The Will of Fire burns within our hearts hotter than ever! Itsuki is a smothering ash - one that this flame will defeat!"
Hana reels her head back, and once more leans forward as she exhales hard through pursed lips, and a ball of flames bursts forth. [[Fire Release: Fireball Jutsu!!]]

It seemed the focus of the Monk was on taking down the rest of the Uchiha for the moment. It wasn't ideal, but Yōsuru was sure the pair of them could handle it for now. He was just glad his charred body was getting a brief reprieve from the flames of Yasumon. He took a few moments to steady himself, as the sound of thunder cracked overhead. And the sky darkened once more. This visage would be eerily similar to the eye of Yasumon, who had witnessed a similar storm within his mind's eye mere moments prior. Sometimes life comes at you fast.
Yōsuru's grey eyes shone a silvery blue for a moment as his hair stood on end, static sparks crackling off his body. Bright flashes coated the battlefield as the storm above started to rage, no rain...only thunder and lightning.
He raises two fingers to the sky and breathes deeply as he shifts his stance. In an instant a bolt of white lightning shoot down and strikes right at his finger tips. He tenses for a moment as he moves his arms and his body, feeling the sheer force of the energy rolling through him. With a yell he points the two fingers of his other arm directly at Yasumon. The bolt of redirected energy intended to pierce right through the monk.

Arata’s eyes widened in surprise as the charred figure in front of him vanished—flashing quickly towards the Uchiha, flames bursting forth once more. He grimaced. His judgement had been slowed by Yasumon’s appearance. It seemed as if the monk had been burning up from within, smoldering like a long-burnt log on the fire—the last thing Arata had expected was another attack.
He turned quickly, shooting back towards the action. Yasumon wouldn’t evade him for long. Leaping up into the air, he slammed his staff down towards the monk’s head with the last bit of his strength.
It was time for this to end: time for his clansmen and friends to stop dying, his people to stop suffering. The death of Yasumon would be the first major step toward a new, lasting peace. There was no need for words anymore. Yasumon had made his lack of surrender clear—and Arata would respond just as clearly.
--
Hikari screeched in outrage at seeing his attack so carelessly thrown aside. The enemy was weak now—it was an insult to be dismissed so casually. Wheeling through the air, he gathered all of his chakra for one more blow. Lightning crackled about his wings as he dove back into the fray.

Time seems to slow down as Yasumon sees the attacks in coming. Fire, Lightning and vicious force heading towards him in a symphony of his destruction. "My past has finally caught up with me..." He thinks to himself. "The Consequences years in the making, manifested in physical form..." His eyes reflected the light hurtling towards him, reflecting the fate he saw for himself. "They will come for you as well Itsuki..."
His arm twitched up for a moment. And Arata could see it was as if he was moving to defend himself once more, but then he stopped. Seemingly not from fatigue, but from choice. The flames around him died away, leaving only the old monk, lines like rivers of lava trailed all around his burnt skin. For a moment he closed his eyes. The flame manifestation grabbing Kuroda disappeared in an instant and there was silence for a brief second. And then the thunder clapped once more.
The fireball impacted, sending him off balance as Arata's staff smacked him in the jaw, causing him to spit blood in and upwards arc. Hikari's lightning jolted his nerves, paralysing him for a moment as the bird quickly dove out of the way as Yosuru's bolt came streaking down from the sky, striking the monk directly in the chest.
He fell to his knees and looked around at his temple, his home, for the last time. He could see his monks, people who were like his children. Dead or surrendered as the Shinobi closed in, hateful eyes staring him down. He couldn't blame them. The day was lost, and he had failed. Perhaps he had failed long ago.
"Tread carefully, Shinobi..." His frail voice called out as he struggled for every breath. "And choose your next steps wisely..." His old eyes looked upon each of them for a few moments. "Just because Itsuki is in the wrong. It does not mean you are...in the right." With his warning given the monk collapsed onto the ground below. His old body finally giving in to the strain as his heart beat only a few last times before stopping.
As if carried by the wind, all present would hear an echo of a dragon's roar fading into silence as his soul passed on.

The flames enveloping Kuroda relent as Yasumon is assaulted by the combined efforts of Arata, Yōsuru, and Hana. The Uchiha leader falls to his knees, his armor all but disintegrating and the remains of his overcoat falling like ashen leaves from him to reveal painful burns all across his torso and arms.
"Kuroda!" came Hana's frantic voice. She runs over to him, trying to support him without exacerbating his wounds. Her hands find purchase on his chest and back where the flesh hadn't been seared black and red, keeping Kuroda from falling. Kuroda smiles weakly at Hana, and his eyes turn to Yasumon, who was himself barely standing, flesh cracked and steaming.
Kuroda hears Yasumon's final words, and does not look away as the Head Monk fell at last - finally defeated. Hana helps Kuroda to walk over to Yasumon, and the sounds of battle all around them begin to quell as the last of the Daimyo's soldiers are incapacitated or killed. The monks began to surrender, now no longer with their respected master to bolster their will.
"...Carry... carry him... to the hall..." Kuroda orders the Uchiha nearby. "We... will honor his... last request for a... burial by burning..."
As he finishes the words, the wind seems to howl with a somber roar of its own, and Kuroda offers a silent prayer. Opening his eyes, Kuroda regards Arata and Yōsuru -- both of whom were also in very rough shape.
"...I'm glad to see you both made it... truly..." Kuroda says to them, wincing as his burns stung fiercely. "...Yagura... Where is..?"
Hana's expression saddens, and the corners of her mouth droop. Kuroda's eyes are led by her own gaze, and fall upon Yagura - who lay leaning against the far wall, a shard of stone visibly protruding from his chest. Kuroda's eyes well as the realization sets in - and the strength to stand, what little he had, finally fails him.
Much had been sacrificed this day.

Yōsuru watched Hana run over to her slightly crispy husband. The Shin himself slowly sinking to the ground to rest now that the fight was done. "Oh yes, check on poor Kuroda. Would be a shame if he got burnt." He mutters to himself sardonically, but with a gentle smirk resting on his lips all the same. He fought to remain awake for a brief few moments, as the dull pain and general exhaustion threatened to overwhelm him. It wouldn't do to settle down for a nap just yet, as tempting as it was.
He gave a brief pause of solemn respect as he finally spotted the corpse of Yagura. That loss was not a wound that would heal quickly, and the Uchiha would need time to recover. Time and space that Yōsuru would give them. He knew he and his clan could not remain here long without causing further issues. A few of his fellow Shin dropped down next to him, one of them kneeling down to begin numbing his numerous burns.
"Arata..." He calls over the Namikaze. Not rising from his sitting position, and for a rare treat not referring to the speedster by his noble title. "Solid work out there, you and your birds." He chuckles softly. "But I'm gonna need that blade back before I go, or I'll forget."
He would spend a few more minutes getting tended to and idly conversing before finally standing up again and departing. The Shin strike team would likely spend one more night in the Land of Fire before heading back home. Making sure to clear the battlefield for any concrete evidence that they were here. Itsuki could rant and scream all he liked to the Wind Daimyo about the Shin's involvement, but as long as he couldn't prove it his arguments would fall flat.

Arata stared at the body of the monk far longer than was needed. The burnt corpse’s final words echoed in his head—a hoarse, parched warning. His hands felt numb. The hawks circled overhead.
And then reality rushed back in. Namikaze, Shin, and Uchiha swarmed into the Temple courtyard. As Arata’s own people ran up seeking to tend to him, he brushed them away. “I’m fine, I’m fine…” And it was true—he had somehow managed to scrape through the confrontation with no more than a few bruises and burns. His eyes shifted toward Yagura, and he bowed his head in a silent prayer. How many had been lost today? How many of those could have been avoided?
He spoke to a few of his clan: “Go, tend to our wounded. Gather up any of the fallen.” To the others, he gave a few orders for establishing camp. They would need an infirmary, bedding, and food as quickly as possible. Following that, reinforcing the Temple would become their top priority. Itsuki wouldn’t sit idly once he heard about this.
As his cousins departed, dashing off to their various duties, Arata approached Yosuru. “You seem like you’ve had better days, my friend…” He weighed the sword in his hand for a brief moment, feeling its perfect balance. Then, he sheathed it and extended it back to the Shin. “This is quite the weapon—thank you. For everything.”
Turning, he looked at the activity buzzing around the courtyard. Yasumon’s charred remains were already being carried off, as all three clans filled the space. Prisoners had been taken. Fires continued to burn upon various rooftops, and the walls were crumbling in certain locations. Cheers mingled with the stifled sounds of mourning. Something terrible, and inevitable, had begun.
