Art done by myself, Dingo
Ever since Koharu was little she stood out amongst most her clan members as being an incredibly strong and independent individual, she was reckless, brash, loud and loved to act out, drawing attention to herself wherever possible since her parents tended to be too occupied with the ongoing war and clan leader rubbish she wasn't interested in. This gained her a couple of bonds and both good and bad ones at that. Being quite competitive she gained a lot of rivalry in the other members around her eye, bragging often that she would grow to beat all of them, especially to unlocking the secrets of the clans dojutsu.
As she grew though she became more and more impatient with learning about the dojutsu for after years and years of training it seemed like no one in the clan ever really made any progress past the first stage. Koharu didn't need the eye to do great things though or to be impressive and she would strive to prove as much as she turned her training focus to ninjutsu, taijutsu and genjutsu purely instead.
Her parents did not like this. It was their belief that this current generation of the clan held the key to unlocking the next stage of the Tenkōgan and they of course wanted their daughter to be the one to do it. This left Koharu to find her own ways of training in other areas as her parents were having none of it, which in turn soured Koharu's view of them and the dojutsu and only made her more defiant towards them.
Her defiance would only continue to grow and as would her parents disdain for her training in other areas outside of the dojutsu and eventually this would develop into full blown arguments between parents and child as both sides were too proud and stubborn to listen to the other or back down from their ideas. Despite her parents unwillingness to train her in other areas though, the young woman would find her own ways to learn and train or would do so solo.
When the war came to an end between the lands and clans it would only continue to rage on between the Toramaru clan or more specifically between Koharu and her family for the years to come. With her parents leading the clan they made plenty of decisions the young woman didn't agree with both in and outside of the war. Overtime their decisions got worse and worse in her eyes and grew in number, she truly believed they were leading the clan down a path that was undesirable and obsessed with unlocking more information on the clans own Dojutsu at any cost.
This obsession and stewed and the conflict between Koharu and her parents eventually developed to a point where she was forcibly removed from the clan, earning her a couple physical scars alongside losing her official clan symbol on the way out. Her parents expected much from their daughter and hoped she would learn a lesson or two in being removed temporarily from their home and care with the promise of that she would be allowed back home once she had her interests set back on learning their clans dojutsu. Koharu being equally as prideful vowed she would never return on such grounds, and would only do so to reclaim her rightful place as the leader once the time was right.
Koharu now lives alone amongst the forests around her clan territory in the Land of Earth and tends to travel between lands to learn more techniques and hone her skills, still fully intending to return to her clan one day and forcibly remove her parents from it for good as they did to her.
Natural Affinities:
Lightning | Wind | Earth
CLAN TRAITS:
[BOON] TENKŌGAN: Dojutsu of the Toramaru clan, a honing of instincts and skill that the clan at large prides itself on, which allows them to experience chakra affinities in a more direct way, allowing them to anticipate the use of an affinity they are familiar with. The Tenkōgan can be achieved by clan members at birth, though being able to effect affinities comes with experience in having seen them prior to trying to switch them with another. By default any affinities the player starts with are included as affinities they are familiar with or having been seen prior. The Tenkōgan can be activated by spending one Chakra Point and counts as a Free Action.
While the Tenkōgan is active, you have access to the following things;
— Once per thread, add a variant effect to a Genjutsu that you cast.
— Three times per thread, target another player when they attack with a technique that has one of the standard elements, changes the element to one that you also have. (Standard Elements effected by this dojutsu include; Wind, Earth, Fire, Water and Lighting)
The Tenkōgan's ability to target other player's affinities can only be used in a thread 3 times when at the base level of the Tenkōgan and you must wait 2 turns between each usage before being able to use it again. Additionally users of the Tenkōgan cannot switch an affinity to the same affinity back to back, for instance; an attack cannot be switched to water and only for the next switched attack to be switched to water again.
It is said that in the distant past, some prodigious and skilled users of the Tenkōgan trained so hard that they managed to achieve a greater side of the Dojutsu, however this has yet to be proven as anything beyond just stories of the past as it seems no current member of the Toramaru clan has figured out the proper training.
The Tenkōgan can remain active all throughout a thread or until the user chooses to switch it off, in which case it cannot be turned back on again during the rest of that thread.
[BASE] LUCKY CAT: Members of the Toramaru clan are known for feats of illusion, as such they have an easier time learning and developing interesting sneaky manoeuvres with various beneficial features. On character creation, a Toramaru player chooses ONE type of Genjutsu variant effect, and each Genjutsu technique that they wish to learn with that effect costs 1 less TP to learn from then on.
>>>Genjutsu - Nightmare: In exchange for power, this genjutsu innately lasts longer than normal, giving it a duration of 4 rounds instead of 2.
[BANE] CAT'S GOT YOUR TONGUE: While formidable, the Tenkōgan is not flawless and its ability comes with a price. After using their Tenkōgan to switch an opposing or allied affinity, members of the Toramaru clan find themselves temporarily unable to perform techniques of the same affinity used to swap with someone else's during the switch for the same 2 turns it takes for the Dojutsu to refresh. This is repeated for each time the Tenkōgan's swapping ability is used.
