NAME: Aketsu Chisoku (遅速明繼, Chisoku Aketsu)
ALIASES NAME: Chisato (血恵), Ketsueki (血恵喜) as a pseudonym
CLAN: Born Chisoku, raised Hidan
AGE: 23, born on the 7th of July
GENDER: Female, she/her
RANK: D
STARTING NATION: Mizu no Kuni
APPEARANCE Chisato is a young woman that, when she wishes to, will appear quite normal. She knows how to hold herself, she knows how to stand, to give off the image of a traditional sword-saint. When she’s herself, though, she can hardly be said to hold a stance at all, instead constantly shifting around her center of mass in unpredictable ways. She will often smile or scowl, her mouth wide open either way, revealing what context and art style make look like rather sharp teeth, but which are instead perfectly natural.
Chisato is a pale young woman with short and messy black hair that looks like she cut it herself with a knife or sword, though, asymmetrically, one lock of hair off to the side is dyed red. Her eyes, too, are asymmetrical, at least in the sense that she has heterochromia: her right eye is blue and her left eye is red, owing to her Chisoku clan ancestry. She also has some light freckles.
She wears a dark red gi, though her clothing also features whites and blacks. Her gi features some hidden symbols that those in the know would identify as being Jashinist in origin, though they’re subtle enough to get along with life most of the time just fine. She also has multiple blades on her at any given time, though only two are obvious at a glance: one for a katana and one for the wakizashi, as per the traditional Niten Ichi-ryū school of kenjutsu.
Art has been commissioned and will be used upon its completion. Current avatar is from Picrew, called makeYo1, by 1w1_y.
BACKGROUND: Born to the Chisoku Clan, ‘Aketsu’ was nothing out of the ordinary. She was not her parents’ firstborn, nor their first daughter, and, short of mass slaughter, she was unlikely to ever inherit anything of worth. But then! When she was still only a child, in the middle of the night, ‘Aketsu’ was discreetly captured by the cultists of the Hidan Clan as part of a wider effort to bolster their ranks with ‘strong blood’.
While ‘Aketsu’ initially only desired to return home, she eventually made some friends and became convinced of some Hidan philosophical points. While she was not particularly taken in by the others’ faith in Jashin— indeed, she still isn’t— she found in their philosophy a deeper truth than the deceptions and greed of shinobi clans, who kept jutsu secret or consolidated bloodline abilities to maintain relative power over others. She gave herself the name Chisato, picked up kenjutsu as an effective method by which to ‘gather’ blood, and developed a nindō that she called Chi no Ishi (血の意志, the Will of Blood). Over the years, she has honed her abilities greatly, both as a kensei and a philosopher, and, in recent years, has taken up traveling (having long since developed enough trust with the Hidan Clan elders to do as she pleases) both to add to her collection of exotic swords and to attempt to find new methods by which to achieve her ultimate goals of hemic equality.
The Will of Blood is as follows: the distribution of power across blood is a travesty, one that Jashin (the divinity of whom, here, is not emphasised) was wise to wish to cure. The very existence of kekkei genkai for some but not all is inherently unjust. Secret techniques (hiden) that exist as clan-specific abilities will lead to unequal power distributions between people, where the family of a clan becomes the powerful ingroup. Clans wish to keep that power for themselves so that they might retain and benefit from it, even when it could be spread through unmediated, natural reproduction outside of the restrictive clan structure or by simply sharing hiden for the benefit of all. We are all of one blood: to keep a ‘bloodline’ ability to one family or to keep a jutsu a secret as in emulation of the former, then, is an inauthentic self-deception worth opposing. Chisato formulated this philosophy based on earlier understandings of Ninshū, in particular as understood by Hagoromo, but pivoted its taken universal expression of humanity from chakra, which someone could go their whole lives without knowing anything about, to blood, which she held as truly universal to the human experience and that which chakra made sense only in relation to. This world is unjust: simply by virtue of the facticity of one’s birth, one could be doomed to a greater or lesser fate, to more or less power over others and oneself. This is not a world worth living in. The only ethical course of action is to act on and seek the correct the world, through whatever means are available, in the hope that, through great effort, one day, this life might be worth it. Chisato is well aware of her own genetic advantage, the Shinton of the Chisoku; to her, her power is all the more motivation to act to better the world.
STARTING STATS
Ninja Points (NP): 15
Ninjutsu: 4
Taijutsu: 4 (legacy bonus)
Genjutsu: 1
Technique: 1
Toughness: 2
Speed: 1
Stamina: 3
ABILITIES
Starting Affinities: Fūton (風遁, Wind Release), Raiton (雷遁, Lightning Release), Shinton (迅遁, Swift Release)
Spending Starting XP and Ryo: Starting with 20 XP and 20,000両. Spending 10 XP to get to D-Rank. Spending 17 XP of that, alongside the free 10 XP for jutsu, on jutsu. That being, 5 from Shinton: Shukketsu Sokusō, 4 from Tsūraibō, 8 from Shinton: Shukketsu Shutsū, 10 from Shinton: Shukketsu Shisatsu. That leaves her with 3 XP and 20,000両.
Clan Traits:
[BOON] JASHIN'S BLESSING: The Hidan clan draws power from their faith in Jashin, the Sixth Sage. However, Jashin requires a proper sacrifice before he allows the Hidan Clan to borrow from his power. This makes them weak at first, but immensely threatening once their ritual is complete. To perform the ritual, the Hidan must extract a person's blood by damaging them. They then use this blood to draw a circle on the ground beneath them whilst ingesting their victim's blood. When successful, their skin turns black like soot with white markings present on their head, chest and arms. In this state, they are nigh-unkillable, a testament to Jashin's unholy power.
If you’ve dealt at least 100 damage to someone and they have blood, you are able to perform 'Jashin's Ritual'. You may start the ritual using a long action. The ritual will be complete at the end of your next post, unless you use any long or short actions before then. Once the ritual is complete, you cannot do it again that thread.
[BASE] SHINTON | SWIFT RELEASE: Swift Release is a combined nature transformation Kekkei Genkai which is made up of jutsu that mix Wind and Lightning chakra flowing through the body of the user to greatly increase their speed and manoeuvrability. You must start with the Wind and Lightning affinities, and you gain the special affinity ‘Swift’.
[BANE] CORRUPTED BLOOD: The sacrilegious ways of the Hidan Clan have tainted their bodies with the dark power of Jashin. Their chakra naturally sees anything that is 'pure' as a threat, and protests it violently upon entering their bodies. This makes medical ninjutsu, as well as other forms of healing, pointless to them. Additionally, Hidan Clan members are notably weaker when in their natural state, seeing as they rely nearly entirely on the boon Jashin gives them

Description: This jutsu’s name is a pun: while 中身 can refer to the physical contents of a thing, it could also mean the blade of a sword. The jutsu’s name could also be taken to mean Summoning: the Blade in the Sheath. Chisato has written technique formulae all over the insides of her usually empty sheath, allowing her to, based on the particular way she holds the sheath upon activation, summon one of the ludicrous number of swords she keeps back home. The sword is summoned into the sheath: if someone hadn’t noticed that it was empty earlier, they might have thought the sword was in there all along.

Description: Chisato’s understanding of her chakra, and how to apply it through Swift Release, came through her understanding of chakra as understood through Jashinism but entirely through taijutsu, and without the use of any hand seals. Chisato dashes at the chosen victim, at multiple points moving faster than most eyes can see to attack from unforeseen angles with unforeseen velocity with whatever blade Chisato has on hand. Chisato aims not to kill, nor even to cause pain, but simply to spill blood.
[This technique uses 5 Chakra Points. Swift counts as Wind when attacking, and Lightning when defending or evading, for damage type interactions. A Taijutsu with Swift applied becomes a Nintaijutsu. When you use an attack Swift Release nintaijutsu, you can use your short action to make a free evasion for no additional chakra cost with a power equal to the prior attack’s. When you use this taijutsu, it counts as a bukijutsu for the purposes of other features and effects. You see, if done right, the friction caused by all the quick movements of Swift Release can be imbued in the form of a frankly ridiculous amount of static charge in a blade.
Simply by defending herself with such a lightning-imbued blade, Chisato not only benefits from having a sword between you and the scary thing (and hopefully they’ll cut themselves by punching it), but also disperses static to ward off incoming force.
[This technique uses 5 Chakra Points. When you use this taijutsu, instead of using your taijutsu score for its damage or power, you can add your taijutsu and ninjutsu scores together (to a maximum of 20) and use that total instead. - While in this state, going below 1 health will not defeat you. You will not be defeated until you reach negative (10 x your NP health + 10 x your Toughness). If an effect says something happens ‘below 1 health’, it actually happens at this new value. If an effect like Shadow Clone Jutsu splits your health, this negative value will be split to the same degree.
- Half of all damage you deal is given to you as healing (rounding down).
- At any point, you can end the ritual by damaging yourself for 10 x your NP, which also deals three fifths as much damage unavoidably toward the person whose blood was used. You do not heal from either of these instances of damage.
