Yōsuru has reddish brown hair with flecks of grey beginning to appear. His hair is quite long, reaching down to the square of his back, in-between his shoulder blades. Though typically he will tie it up into a bun or a ponytail. He has a short unkempt beard. His eyes are a deep brown.
His skin is quite pale, similar to a lot of Shin clan members. He has heavy bags under his eyes and numerous scars. One on his upper lip, one carving through his eyebrow and one just below his eye. Most of these scars were picked up during the war.
As casual wear he usually sports a loose and comfortable robe that still allows general ease of movement. When out and about though he is most often wearing a light grey shirt with a dark grey ponch over it with comfortable but tactical trousers and standard Ninja sandals.
BACKGROUND
Yōsuru was born to the main Shin bloodline during the Warring states period. Never one for bold claims or grand statements, nor overly ambitious as a child his family hoped he could prove himself an eventual leader through glory in war. Yet they were dismayed to find Yōsuru had very little lust for battle and was more in favour of peace through diplomacy. It was from then assumed that eventual clan leadership would fall to one of his relatives. Most likely his cousin Kyozetsu whom was eager to fight for the glory of their clan.
This lack of bloodlust in no way meant that Yōsuru was an ineffectual Ninja. In fact his family were only so dismayed because he showed a fair bit of talent from an early age. Picking up on the basics far faster than the others in his cohort. Yet in equal measure he seemed more taken by studying other nations and the history of Chakra than he did with combat.
At age eleven he took part in a diplomatic mission to the Land of Lightning to broker a temporary alliance between the Shin clan and the Kabuto clan. Aside from general assistance in their shared ongoing war efforts the deal involved one member of the Shin clan being taught the ways of the Kabuto Serpentine practices whilst one member of the Kabuto clan would be taught some of the Shin's advanced transplantation medical techniques.
It was a deal the Shin took reluctantly, and many of their young progeny rejected the offer to train, opting instead to take DNA from slain foes and transplant that into themselves, seeing it as a battle honour in and of itself. The first to actually accept the offer was Yōsuru, who was fascinated by the concept of natural energy and Sage Chakra.
It was the most difficult training of his life. Having easily excelled earlier on, finding something he struggled with was very new to him. The art of the Kabuto was cutting oneself off from unecessary emotions and allowing themselves to act on pure pragmatic instinct. It took a long time for the typically empathetic Yōsuru to grasp this concept, but over the years as the wars raged on he eventually learned the state. Though he wasn't exactly proud of himself. He did not enjoy how the form made him feel, how he felt so cut off from his sense of self. He didn't have much time to ponder it though, as soon enough the alliance between the two clans fell apart and war resumed. And now he was no longer allowed to sit back and watch. Yōsuru needed to be a soldier.
And a soldier he was. Talented and adept in the art of killing like his kin. His distaste for violence tended to disappear whenever he entered Sage mode. A cold and unfeeling haze often clouding his mind whenever he fought. He didn't like it, but he knew in these dark times that he was fighting for the survival of the Land of Wind and the continuation of the Shin clan.
Decades passed and the fighting never ceased. Yōsuru was now in his late thirties and Captain of his own squad. His cousin had indeed taken over clan leadership after his grandfather had died. Yet at this point Yōsuru was tired. Tired of fighting. Tired of the destruction. Tired of seeing generations born knowing nothing but war. He made a plea to Kyozetsu urging his cousin to be different and try to find a diplomatic resolution. To allow their clan to settle and solidify their place in the world by other means. His pleas fell upon deaf ears and Kyozetsu warned that if Yōsuru ever spoke out of turn again, he would be exiled.
Yōsuru had to push aside his anger and humiliation. His clan was still at war, and he still had a squad to lead. He saw each of his team like they were his own children and though he trained them well to be able to survive in conflict. He did his best to also teach them skills they would need once the world was at peace. His squad would never see that world.
On a mission to sabotage an enemy fortified position Yōsuru and his squad were fed fabricated information that led them into a trap. Ambushed and with no way out his team fought hard but couldn't stand up against the sheer numbers. His squad was butchered and he was captured in the hopes of a ransom reward or at least important intelligence.
Kyozetsu never sent a ransom. Though not for any distaste for his cousin but out of some warped sense of pride. Some ideal that members of the Shin clan were too good to negotiate. Yōsuru spent a year in the custody of his enemies before finally escaping in the middle of a skirmish between his captors and another enemy force. He made his way thtough the perilous landscapes of the world before finally arriving back with his clan.
He made one final plea to his cousin. Asking him to consider all the death and slaughter, to take some effort to make it stop. And in that moment his Kyozetsu almost seemed to consider his words, before hardening his heart once more and declaring Yōsuru an exile.
Patience at an end Yōsuru declared a duel for the leadership of the clan. Though Kyozetsu tried to argue he had no right due to now being an exile the other Shin wasn't entirely without allies. Enough of the nearby clan members made the argument that this duel would decide whether or not he was truly exiled.
Forced to accept. The cousins brawled. Many expected an easy victory from Kyozetsu, since he had always proudly displayed his prowess and glory, but the underdog proved he was not without his own skills. The duel was long and hard fought, but in the end Kyozetsu had no energy to keep fighting and Yōsuru stood victorious. Still in Sage mode Yōsuru turned his back to his cousin, ensured that his victory was undisputed when Kyozetsu suddenly charged forward. Yōsuru whipped around and as his cousin cut a scar just below his eye, his kunai plunged straight into their heart.
Since that day Yōsuru has been leader of the Shin. With some whispering the moniker 'The Exiled King.' The war did not end in that moment of course, but he made efforts to withdraw their military presence to a more defensive stance, and made continuous pleas to the Daimyo to bring and end to the war. Whether through these efforts or not, the war would soon come to an end a few years later.
Now Yōsuru begins efforts to open up diplomatic channels with the other clans in the Land of Wind. Trying to forge bonds and alliances with them in order to preserve peace and unity. It's slow going, but he has hopes that one day they can form a grand undertaking. A village of many clans. One Hidden in the Ash of the war that came before.
As it stands now, that is his dream.

Additionally, a user under water can focus chakra on their hands or any other body part that makes contact with the surface of the water. If they were submerged, they can climb atop the water as if they were climbing out of a pool.

- You gain these Banes as soon as you reach those required ranks.

[BOON] SERPENTINE TRANSFORMATION: As a long action once per thread, when your chakra is full, you can undergo a somewhat sinister transformation as you channel your latent senjutsu to become stronger.
- You have a separate resource called Natural Energy. You begin with natural energy equal to your NP, which is your cap. While transformed this way, your Ninjutsu, Speed and Stamina statistics increase by 2, and by another 1 for each rank above D you are.
- Whenever you would spend chakra, such as on a jutsu, you must substitute half (rounding up) of the chakra cost with the same natural energy cost. If you do not have enough natural energy for this, it will substitute as much as it can.
- You regain natural energy by standing still. You may spend your long action to gain 3 natural energy, or your short action to gain 2.
- If you end your post with less than 1 natural energy, the transformation ends.
- You are detached while in this state and retain little trace of emotion and ignore your bonds with others. You cannot defend other people, or use items to benefit them directly, nor can they do the same for you.
- For 20 XP, you can ‘train’ yourself to retain some emotion. You are still somewhat detached and cannot defend other people, but you can use items to benefit them directly. Others still cannot defend you or use items to benefit you directly.
- For 30 more XP after you have reached B-Rank, you can ‘train’ yourself to be fully emotive and present to the needs of others in this state, and others can fully assist you in turn now as well.

[BASE] SHINTON | SWIFT RELEASE: Swift Release is a combined nature transformation Kekkei Genkai which is made up of jutsu that mix Wind and Lightning chakra flowing through the body of the user to greatly increase their speed and manoeuvrability. You must start with the Wind and Lightning affinities, and you gain the special affinity ‘Swift’.
- You can spend 1 XP to apply Swift to a ninjutsu or genjutsu, or 2 XP for taijutsu.
- Swift counts as Wind when attacking, and Lightning when defending or evading, for damage type interactions.
- A Taijutsu with Swift applied becomes a Nintaijutsu, gaining that effect for free.
- When you use an attack Swift Release nintaijutsu, you can use your short action to make a free evasion for no additional chakra cost with a power equal to the prior attack’s.

- When a ninjutsu or nintaijutsu with Sound applied hits, the target gains a Humming token. When another jutsu with Sound applied to it hits a target with a Humming token, it can choose to stack another (to a maximum of 5) or to expend them all. For each Humming token expended, the damage is increased by +1x.

Name: Minamo hokō no Jutsu [Water Walking Technique]

Description:This technique involves focusing chakra to the bottom of ones feet. The amount of chakra that needs to be emitted changes constantly so the user has to be emitting a constant stream of chakra from the bottom of their feet and using the repellent force to walk across the water's surface. Too little and the user will sink, too much and the user will greatly disturb the water's surface. Additionally, a user under water can focus chakra on their hands or any other body part that makes contact with the surface of the water. If they were submerged, they can climb atop the water as if they were climbing out of a pool.

Description: This technique involves focusing a fixed amount of chakra to the bottom of one's feet, and using that to climb solid without using one's hands or climbing equipment. If the stream of chakra is too weak, the user will lose their footing on the surface and fall off. If it is too strong, the user will be pushed away from the surface, causing the surface to be damaged around the point of contact and the user will fall.

Users will gain the attributes and physical features of whatever they transform into, such as a weapon's sharpness or an animal's fangs. To be able to assume so many different forms makes this technique invaluable for not just combat, but intelligence gathering and diversionary tactics as well.

[This technique uses 10 Chakra Points. It can merge with up to two other Jutsu and deals 10x Ninjutsu damage. Evasives used against this technique cannot add their speed.]
