Site Rules
First off, on behalf of the staff I would like to welcome you to New Era! We try and keep this place a fun and easy-going environment so please enjoy your stay. We are a semi-free-form roleplay and we've done our best to make sure our players have as much freedom as possible. However, there are, and always will be, rules which need to be read and understood, and this thread will serve as an index that will hopefully help you understand everything about the systems we use on this site. It should also fill you in on some of the little things your character should know.Firstly the basic ground rules, which, if you have been on RPGs before, are more than likely well acquainted with already.
- Don’t godmod – The golden rule of any RP. You should not be responsible for the actions of any other player's character. Because of the freedom we allow in our storylines here, you can control any NPCs that have been brought in by yourselves, but don’t start controlling other characters in your posts. This also extends to declaring hits or successful attacks on characters played by someone else.
- Don’t metagame – The ever-present companion to the first rule. Discussion between players is fine, but you shouldn’t introduce any OOC knowledge into your IC posts unless the character has a reason to know it. This also includes internal monologues that the other character might have done, that you read, but your character didn’t hear.
- Use Common Sense - There are a number of things which aren't explicitly stated here, but really, it's just common sense. Don't spam topics that aren't meant to be spam; don't be racist, any of that stuff; be reasonable.
- Face Claims - Play-bys/face claims must be artistic representations, not real life people. Anime or manga graphics, pixel dolls, and drawings are all acceptable depictions for characters' faces. It is recommended but not enforced that you use an anime or manga styled face claim. See our art rules for more information.
- Third Person - All roleplay posts, techniques and character sheets or other forms of written media on the site, unless specified otherwise, should be written in Third Person.
- Plagiarism - Plagiarism is expressly forbidden. Anyone caught stealing another members work, or work from other sources such as alternative roleplay sites that they cannot 100% prove is their own work, will be punished. Plagiarism is a serious offence and can lead to severe consequences.
- Proboards and Discord Terms of Service - Just remember that there are rules that apply to all sites on these hosts, such as no NSFW content, no rape discussion, ect. Here is a link to the Proboards Terms of Service.
Below are also a few general rules of play that effect the way threads go. Please make sure to follow them as well.
- First Post – The first post in any given thread is important for two reasons; it shows what power your character begins the thread with, which is locked in for the remainder of the thread. It also sets up what is happening in the thread or the setting of the scenario. Please make sure to always list your character rank, NP and statistics at the start of each thread.
- Having Multiple of your Characters in a Thread - Outside of Action and Event Threads, you can bring multiple of your characters into one thread. You will act as each of them for each of your posts, and must only post using one of their profiles to make these posts (meaning that only one of them will gain Ryō from word count). When it comes to being rewarded XP for the thread, the XP for your posts is equally divided between them (rounding down), and the thread completion bonus is awarded only to one of them (by default, whichever profile made the posts).
